It's time once again for the Feature and Follow Blog Hop hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read? The Feature and Follow Blog Hop is an excellent chance to connect with other bloggers and answering questions about our favorite books. Here's this week's question:
We always talk about books that WE want. Let's turn it on its head. What books have you given other people lately?
I've had several giveaways lately, some with books given away from the author or publisher directly, some given away by me, and I've given away some gift cards. Let's stick to just what I've given away.
The most recent book was four copies of Raphael/Parish (Bayou Heat 1-2). This book is actually two novellas, one by Alexandra Ivy and one by Laura Wright, set in the world of the Pantera (sexy puma shifters). Each story focuses on one couple but they blend seemlessly together to tell the overall story arc of the Pantera. I was fortunate to take part in the tour for this book and interviewed both of the authors. You can read the interview here or here to read my review click here.
I also like to give away gift cards to the winner's favorite bookseller. That way, they can pick out a book or several books that they have been looking forward to. Most recently I used this option in the Fools For Luv hop. Since the hop was more general in nature and wasn't focusing on a specific author, I thought it would be a great option for my hop giveaway.
I would like to say that I give away actual books to my family/friends for them to read, but I have to admit that I'm a book hoarder. Once I get them in my greedy little hands, I don't want to let them go. Oh, I know the other person would enjoy it, but how do I know that they will take proper care of my treasure? They could not give it back, fold over a corner to mark their place or, even worse, break the spine *shudders*. I'll happily tell them, you need to pick the book up or buy them a copy of their own, but don't expect me to share MY copy.
What about you? Have you given away anything recently? What was it?
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools — keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them “hi” in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee's View & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to WordPress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don’t have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

I haven't done any giveaways in a long time, but I have given a few as presents! I always feel good about that. Happy Friday!

Be it the actual book or a gift card, I love spreading book-love to as many people as I can :)
DeleteI know what you mean about the book hoarding part. I have a giant shelf of books and I worry that others might ruin my preciousness. I followed you back, have an awesome Friday! :)
ReplyDeleteI had to switch over to e-books because I've run out of room for books in my house. They're in cabinets and stacked on top of and in front of each other on my shelves LOL.
DeleteI think I just love your blog!!! Newest follower here, and I just loved your answer. I haven't done any giveaway's lately, but maybe I should be doing that more.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! Since the new year I've really gotten involved in more tours and hops with giveaways. It's been really fun :)
DeleteI'm a book hoarder too, although I'm happy to share my books with my sisters since they're careful of my books too. Although now that I have a toddler niece, I have to be careful with the books I lend to my sister!
ReplyDeleteMy FF for the week. Old follower via GFC. :)
I do loan out books occasionally, but I have to know the person for while first and know that they'll take good care it.
DeleteThanks for dropping by my blog!
DeleteWow, you're generous. Me, I tend to only lend within my family! I've had horrible experiences lending to friends.
I'm usually the one who reads various genres, so I've read serious fiction books of my parents, and I particularly loved Arthur Hailey!
Hope you had a good weekend, Traci :)
Ah yes, I think you introduced me to Raphael/Parish! :) I didn't win but they were added to my TBR...
ReplyDeleteI'm a total book hoarder - I have a library in my house. And I love sharing books with family & friends. The last book I gave away was The Love of My (Other) Life. I gifted some good ones at Christmas too. :)
Old follower - Bookworm Brandee - Happy Friday!
I actually have 3 libraries...one in our old house on our property that didn't make the move and I still visit, one in our new house, and then my e-book library since I'm now out of room in two houses LOL.
DeleteOh, that's awesome! And I didn't even think of the ebook library...I have one of those as well. It's so nice to know others with the same affliction! ;)
DeleteI totally understand regarding hoarding books. I hate to part with any and if I do end up passing any long, I quickly go back and replace them.

I'm usually the same way, if I loan a book and don't get the book back in a month or so, I go and get it again. The person I loaned it to may just be a slow reader, but it drives me crazy to know that I don't have it anymore :)
DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteWow, you gave a lot of books lately! I wish I was able to do that too.

It's really just been since the New Year that I've been able to really give away a lot of books, but it's been really fun.
DeleteI have only hosted one giveaway, maybe I'll hold one again in a few months for my 1 year blogoversary... And giving gift-cards is a really great idea!
ReplyDeleteOld follower stopping by to wish you a wonderful weekend! Here's my FF post.
I like giving away gift cards more than books. More people participate in the giveaway and then the winner gets to decide what book(s) they really want.
DeleteYeah, I hurt when I lend a book; I always think that I won't see it again:-)
ReplyDeleteNew follower. This is my FF post.
I know, I feel like I should be packing their little bags and sending them away to live somewhere else LOL. I'm such a book geek.
DeleteHi there, new follower. Glad to meet you and get acquainted with your blog! I hope you can stop by and check out my blog when you have the time.

Thanks for stopping by & following Michael. I stopped by yours earlier and followed back. Great site!
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI have never hosted a giveaway yet. I don't know how it works but I want to learn about it. I hope I can search about it soon.
I am a new follower via GFC. Here is my FF http://goo.gl/GJ9cz
I highly recommend using Rafflecopter if you ever do a giveaway. The basic version is free (you can upgrade) and it's really easy to use.
DeleteI've lent, donated, and given away books and I like doing it. It's a difficult thing to not know if people will take care of them but that's the chance you have to take. I hosted a couple giveaways for authors but they were mostly e-copies which is convenient because then that issue never occurs. But some books I'm just not willing to part with! It's great you host giveaways too! Also you have an absolutely lovely blog! Nice FF.
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic weekend :)

E-books are so easy to give away and as more and more friends switch over then I would be more than happy to lend them a book. Thanks for stopping by and I'm so glad you like my blog :)
DeleteI love your blog! Those books sounds good, I've read similar books, so it would be nice to read them. (they will go to my to-read list)

Thanks Jackie! I hope you enjoy the books! :)
DeleteOh, I'm total book hoarder too. I'd rather buy multiple copies of one book than give my book away. LOL. I'm really interested in this Bayou Heat series. Sexy puma shifters? Yes, please! Thanks for sharing and for stopping by my blog earlier. ♥
ReplyDeleteRaina @ The LUV'NV
(Old GFC & Twitter follower, but new FB & Linky follower ;D)

ReplyDeleteI hope one day you send me a book or prize :)

DeleteI'm a new follower from the hop :) Giveaways are fun, I like being able to introduce people to new books.
ReplyDeleteYou can check out my post here.
~Ailsa
I agree Ailsa, it's wonderful introducing new books to people. :)
DeleteI can completely relate. No one touches MY books! When I give a book, it's a brand-spanking new copy.
