New Release Tuesdays, 2/19/13

Did you just finish your current read and are looking to start a new one? Here are a few of this week's releases that you might enjoy. Did I miss the book you were looking forward too? Then leave a comment and let us know what else we need to pick up.

Dark Secrets by Shona Husk
Arcane, #2

Six years ago, Haidyn Mast left his home and his betrothed Anisa to follow his magical calling. Too weak to join the Arcane Guild and too ashamed to return home, he has made a life as a prostitute—to all outward appearances. In truth, he sells his mind but not his body, using magic to let his clients experience their most secret fantasies while his hands stay clean. Even the Lawman, the arbiter of justice in Reseda, is one of his clients, but Haidyn would rather not know the extent of that man's depravity.

Though successful, Haidyn is shunned as a whore and his lack of formal training is causing his power to grow out of control. He's ready to retire and leave the city, but when he sees his Anisa standing at the Lawman's side, he knows he must rescue her from the abusive enforcer. Risking his life and his sanity, he devises a plan, knowing that failure will mean death for him, and a lifetime of torment for her.

The world is gone, destroyed by human, ecological, or supernatural causes. Survivors dodge chemical warfare and cruel gods; they travel the reaches of space and inhabit underground caverns. Their enemies are disease, corrupt corporations, and one another; their resources are few and their courage is tested.

Powerful original dystopian tales from nine bestselling authors offer bleak insight, prophetic visions, and precious glimmers of light among the shards and ashes of a ruined world.

Dead Suite by Wendy Roberts
A Ghost Dusters Mystery, #4

Crime scene cleaner Sadie Novak has been blessed with the gift of second sight. But with ghosts of murder victims always popping up when she’s trying to work, her blessing sometimes seems more like a curse.

With business slow, her mortgage payment looming, and her relationship with on-again off-again boyfriend Zack somewhere in limbo, Sadie could use a drink and a little rejuvenating R&R. But when women start getting killed in fancy hotels, Sadie suddenly finds herself back to work and her business back in the black.

Posh hotels are much nicer accommodations than her usual crime scenes, but soon perks turn to peril and Sadie gets caught in the killer’s web. Now, Sadie has to figure out the identity of the Seattle Slasher, before he comes for her next

Neferet's Curse by PC Cast & Kristin Cast
House of Night Novellas, #3

The White City, 1893: In turn-of-the-century Chicago, with the World’s Fair bringing bustle and excitement to her home city, sixteen-year-old Emily Wheiler should be reveling in her youthful beauty and the excitement around her. But her whole life changed when her mother died, leaving her to be the Lady of Wheiler House. Her father, a powerful bank president, is at the center of an important social hub for the booming young city, and he needs Emily to do everything her mother would have – to be a good hostess and make sure the mansion runs smoothly.

As Emily uneasily tries to replace her mother, she also longs for more… for love and a life of her own. When a handsome young man notices her at one of her father’s parties, it seems that her hopes may finally be coming true. Until her father forbids her to see him – or any other man – and starts revealing a darkly violent side that even he can’t understand.

At last, afraid for her life and with nowhere to turn, Emily is Marked by a vampyre and brought to the Chicago House of Night, where she begins a magickal new life that should allow the wounds from her past to heal. But as she gains strength, and a powerful new name, she carries a dark need to wreak vengeance on the man she trusted most.

From victim to High Priestess, beautiful young woman to powerful seductress, Neferet's journey begins in NEFERET'S CURSE.

  1. I might pick-up Shards & Ashes but otherwise there's nothing for me this week which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Gives me time to catch up on my TBR pile instead of adding to it. Hehe

    1. I know what you mean Carmel! Those light release weeks are the only time I have to try to catch up :) Dark Secrets looks pretty good though, I think I might give it a try.

  2. Thanks, again, Traci, love stopping over every week. I read Dark Secrets and it was good, will have to wait for the next full length novel to really tell you if I like the series or not. :-)

    1. Yep, sounds like it will have to go on the TBR list then (I don't think I'll ever get that down to just a few books) :) Hugs Dana!

    1. I know Anna! Each week when I'm preparing the post, I usually preorder 1 or 2 of that week's books and tell myself NO, you've spent this week's allotment of book money, add the rest to your TBR...but, but, I want it now!!! LOL
